BitMEX Description
BitMEX was a cryptocurrency derivatives exchange founded in 2014 and registered in Seychelles. It became one of the most influential platforms in crypto trading and is credited with inventing the perpetual swap, a futures-like contract without an expiry date that is now standard across the industry. Traders used BitMEX to trade Bitcoin and other crypto contracts with high leverage, which magnified both gains and losses. The company faced US enforcement action in 2020 and later pleaded guilty to violating anti-money-laundering rules. According to its official website, BitMEX ceased all exchange operations on 23 September 2026 after eleven years, and customers can still withdraw remaining funds while balances are subject to account fees. Because the exchange is closed, this listing should not be promoted and should be marked as closed or removed from the directory.
